Letting go

In September 2008, a sweet little foster child was placed with us. We knew that Caroline was not ours and would someday return back to her parents when and if they finished putting their lives in order. Even so, we grew to love Caroline over the next couple of months.

In December 2008, we made a difficult decision to accept a job in another city. This meant transfering Caroline to another foster family because she needs to be near her parents. The hardest part of moving was leaving her behind. One of the main reasons this move will be good is because it will allow me to spend more time with Azure and Allison.

I miss Caroline's happy cry of "daddy" when I came home. (I always said, call me "Jonathan," to prevent her from confusing us with her dad, but Caroline just followed Azure's example). I pray that God will keep and protect her.

You can't help but love children. They are glimpses of heaven.
