facebook group

i felt a little silly setting up a private group on facebook called "allison and jonathan hope to adopt" but i felt some kind of prompting that this might bring us a little closer to finding the right birth parents for us. people know people. people know people who need help. hopefully our friends will think of us next time an unexpected pregnancy touches the life of someone they care about.

i thought it was really sweet the way jonathan encouraged me. neither one of us has ever invited any of our friends to join any other facebook group. the responses have been heart warming. i am continually amazed at how many have adopted or want to adopt.

for now we are trying to be the best parent we can be. we trust God and His great plan of happiness.

the family

in a couple of weeks i have to speak at church on the organization of the family. as i have started to ponder the subject, one of my favorite talks of all time came to mind so i am going to using blogging as a way to electronically file it. this talk by Elder Henry B. Eyring is entitled, The Family. it was given shortly after the proclamation of the family came out in the fall of 1995. talk about inspired from god!

hearing this talk as a single person my testimony of and hope for an eternal family. my parents separated while i was serving as a missionary in france and i really needed to be reminded of what family is all about. this talk also increase my testimony of being the wife and mother i would want to be and have. i'm far from perfect but i know that Heavenly Father will help me as i turn to Him.

"spring" bunnies

i think we have come up with a new tradition: a spring bunny hunt! what does Easter have to do with bunnies? nothing that i know of.... so we decided that a chocolate bunny hunt after church just might be the solution to the commercialism of easter.

on Easter Sunday, we'll do our "resurrection" egg hunt. (once i find it in one of our unpacked boxes.) Azure loves this and it is very true to the spirit of that special sunday. chocolate bunnies aren't. we think this is a good solution this seasonal quandary.

love

at the age of 4, the first word our daughter wrote was "love". she wanted to send it to her "sister"--our former foster daughter. it is amazing how strong a bond can be between two little girls after only 4.5 months. we look forward to azure's prayers being answered through a birth mom that connects with us.
