after having our daughter, i wanted to have another child as soon as possible. who knew that it would be so hard the next time around? after 3 moves and 4 years of trying, we decided that we had to do something besides just sit and wait for us to get pregnant. we started looking into adoption.
one family in our congregation had fostered and then adopted 8 children. they already had 3 biological children that were 16, 18, and 21. wow! they really were the poster family for how amazing foster-adoption can be, as the kids they adopted are thriving. i feel that God put them on our path to help us see another possible way of growing our family.
God also put a literal sign in our path. day after day we would drive by the sign at catholic charities that read something like: want to help a child? become a foster parent. the sign tugged at my heart strings every time i drove by. when i brought it up to jonathan, i was pleased to hear that it also had been working on him. we signed up for classes and 6 months later became foster parents. just another reason why i love my husband, he is usually on the same page as me when it comes to the big things in life.
God works in mysterious ways. it feels like he has been guiding us. we never imagined life would take us down this path but we feel blessed to provide a safe and loving home for children in need.
