our own charlie brown tree

we set a family record this year by purchasing our christmas tree before thanksgiving. crazy. i know.... but kids loves christmas! i was pushed over the edge when we got discounted tickets to the polar express train ride. it just got me into the spirit of things early. having a little foster child also makes we want to have an extra special christmas. we haven't decorated it yet but it looks beautiful naked. azure also made us get out our mini-fake tree. the white lights are soothing. happy day!

note: if we lived in canada this would not be so weird cuz their thanksgiving is in october. lots of people put up their tree after halloween. ;)

picassa

just the other day i was mentioning to one of the preschool moms that azure drew a person over 6 months ago and has not done one since. don't ya know, a few days later she drew mommy holding azure's hand. guess she just needed a bigger canvas! she went on to cover the whole back patio with other creatures: a beared dog, a giant book and lots of pancakes.

there is hope for her coloring skills as well. a little positive peer pressure from her friend mckell and she's been coloring better ever since. she is now coloring with purpose in stead of just trying to get the task over with. there is a time and a season. i know.

gma gracia

This 94 year old represents one of the reasons I'm glad to be part of my family. She is a woman of faith. She is optimistic. She is fun loving. The other day i found out something new when she said: "I like to read history. That's what attracted my husband."

When she was young she would read Ladies Home Journal, Metropolitan and Reader's Digest. Mrs Roosevelt used to write in the Ladies Home Journal. One of the first things she told her husband was "I'm going to vote for Roosevelt!" She wasn't even a citizen when she said this.

Thanks to her love of reading my aunt, Edna (aka Sherrie) at the age of 3 would carry around Reader's Digest and would read it cover to cover!
