this photo was taken during our first christmas. christmas lights have extra special meaning for me because it was under the early morning glow of christmas lights that jonathan proposed to me. it was very unexpected. we had been talking about getting engaged... but he got the ring all on his own: a simple white gold band. i thought he'd at least wait until he went to canada to meet my parents... it would be fun to hear his version of the story.note about the ring: i'm a practical woman and knew that he couldn't afford the kind of diamond i wanted. i had suggested a plain gold band. i used to work in a fine jewelry store and knew a thing or two about quality. in the end, my mother gave me her diamond ring because she is divorced and i'm her only daughter.
